Who is Luxardo?
Luxardo has been making liqueurs and preserves since 1821, when Girolamo Luxardo founded the distillery in Zara on the Dalmatian coast. Today the family business, now in its sixth generation, works from Torreglia near Padova, growing its own Marasca cherries. Luxardo is best known for The Original Maraschino Cherries – candied Marasca cherries packed in their own rich syrup – trusted by top bartenders and pastry chefs around the world.
What makes Luxardo stand out?
Every jar is roughly half cherries and half syrup, made only from Marasca cherries, sugar and cherry juice – no artificial colours, preservatives or thickeners. The cherries keep a firm, slightly crisp bite and a deep, almost black colour, with a rich cherry and almond flavour that holds up in cocktails, gelato and baking. They are Kosher certified, gluten free, GMO free and vegan friendly.
